When your Animal travels with you
Most airlines transport small dogs and domesticated cats (under 5 kilogrammes) in the aircraft cabin. Heavier animals and pets such as birds, guinea pigs or rabbits may only be transported in the cargo hold. If you want to take your animal with you, you must declare this to your airline company or tour operator on time and in writing.
Animal transport containers
Animal transport containers for pets must principally be organised independently by the passenger. In Bremen, you can for instance buy these for dogs and cats at the Lufthansa Cargo. Register by telephone at least 2 days before take-off.
Tariffs differ between the individual airline companies. Please contact your airline company or your travel agency.
Checking in animals normally takes place at the same time as passengers, that is, without additional waiting times.
Entry regulations at destination country
Please bear in mind the current entry regulations of the country of destination.
